about

"I was a young man, and went in business with the old man." In Ray, the classic myth of an apprentice's resentment of his boss. In layman's terms, an "f--- you" song! (Packaged as a birthday song.)

lyrics

i was a young man
i went in business for the old man
they said son you're gonna make it
but i got so tired of waiting
for your old plan
y'know i've had it with your old ideals
i wonder if you know how that feels when you get home

happy birthday ray, go fuck yourself
have a nice day
the next time you talk down to me
i'll blow up in your face
happy birthday ray, go fuck yourself
have a nice day
the next time you talk down to me
will be the last time you talk down to anyone

it's not my problem
y'know i don't get paid enough to solve them
he said boy you got an attitude
i'm just giving back what i get from you
from my old plans i'm gonna have to work it on the weekend
i heard you bought a cadillac car
well tell me who the fuck you think you are

happy birthday ray, go fuck yourself
have a nice day
the next time you talk down to me
i'll blow up in your face
happy birthday ray, go fuck yourself
have a nice day
the next time you talk down to me
will be the last time you talk down to any

1 2 3 4 5 ain't we had fun
5 4 3 2 1 ungrateful son
it's a shame we can't be friends
happy birthday

i was a young man growing old
breaking my back for some dream they sold me
how some day all of this could be yours
but they kept me there waiting
for promises i know won't come true
and you can't give away what they gave to you
so i've had enough of this and i quit
and happy birthday

i'm gone, i'm gone

the next time you talk down to me
will be the last time you talk down to anyone
